Russian Sukhoi Su-30 fighter jets have been spotted following two US B-1 Lancer strategic bombers over the Black Sea, according to Russia’s National Defense Control Center.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, Russian fighter jets escorted two US strategic bombers over the neutral waters of the Black Sea on Wednesday.

Russian radars detected aerial targets approaching the Russian border over the Black Sea, prompting two Su-30 fighters to take off, according to Xinhua, citing the Russian Defense Ministry.

Before escorting the air targets away, Russian pilots identified them as two US Air Force B-1B strategic bombers and two KC-135 tanker planes.

There was no violation of Russian borders, and the Russian aircraft strictly followed international airspace rules, according to the report.
