Spotify is an audio streaming and media services provider. Founded in April 2006, this streaming platform has proven itself to be reliable over the past years. According to Musically, Spotify had 406 million monthly active users (180 million premium subscribers and 226 million ad-supported users) at the end of 2021. With that, it’s safe to say that Spotify is one of the world’s most popular audio streaming platforms. Many people love Spotify because it makes streaming music so much easier. Even at that, you need to keep in mind that the platform isn’t without its issues. The latest reports reveal that Spotify app users are experiencing an annoying situation, in which the ‘Now Playing’ progress bar feature is currently missing.

What causes the new Spotify app issue? Is there any workaround to address the problem? You’ll find answers to these questions and more, as you read further.

The Spotify app ‘Now Playing’ progress bar is missing and disappearing

Many people love using Spotify because the Swedish app makes music streaming incredibly easy for its users. Besides, the app is also popular because it offers tons of amazing features; a good example is the Spotify app ‘Now Playing’ progress bar. This offering makes it easy for you to see the song you’re listening to. It also allows you to execute certain actions, such as skip, play, and pause.

Unfortunately, the latest reports across various social media platforms reveal the feature is currently not available. Affected users mentioned that the Spotify app ‘Now Playing’ progress bar is missing on their Android devices. With this issue, the affected users cannot play, pause, skip or restart their songs.

Some users mentioned that the only temporary solution to the issue is to restart the Spotify app. However, this workaround only works for a little while before the issue comes up again. You can check here (1,2,3,4,5) to see what the affected users are saying about the issue.

Is there any workaround to resolve the issue?

For now, there’s no official fix yet to address the issue, in which the Spotify app ‘Now Playing’ progress bar is missing. The good news, however, is that the Spotify team is aware of the issue. It’s already working to resolve the problem, according to this post.

We don’t know when the official fix will be available yet. However, there are a couple of workarounds that you can try. First, according to Mike_Gt2, the Spotify user suggested that you should try downloading this Spotify app (the previous version).

Alternatively, you can consider force-stopping the Spotify app and re-opening it. This workaround was suggested by JoRehovot, another affected Spotify user. As usual, we’ll continue to monitor the Spotify team for you. As soon as we find any relevant updates, we’ll let you know here.
