Twitter is currently facing intermittent problems affecting certain users worldwide, displaying an error message stating “Rate Limit Exceeded.”
Twitter users report seeing error messages that say “Something went wrong. Try reloading” and “Sorry, you are rate limited. Please wait a few minutes, then try again” when performing a Twitter search.
On Saturday, a number of users took to Twitter to express their dissatisfaction, reporting that they received “Rate Limit Exceeded” notifications. This indicates that they had reached the platform’s limit for the number of tweets or new accounts they could follow within a specific timeframe.
The recent changes implemented by Twitter required users to sign in compulsorily to view tweets. Twitter and Elon Musk explained that these changes were made due to excessive data scraping activities on the platform, which resulted in increased server load.
To access content on Twitter, individuals will be required to either create a new account or log into an existing one. If a user who hasn’t registered attempts to view a tweet, the website will prompt them to either sign up or log in to a Twitter account.

Regarding the ongoing issue, according to the DownDetector, the problem began at 5:52 PM. Twitter has not yet provided any information regarding the cause of this problem. However, it is anticipated that it will be resolved soon.
UPDATE: According to Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter, the platform is implementing limits on the number of tweets users can read per day. The purpose is to discourage excessive data scraping and manipulation of the system.
Initially, Musk stated that verified accounts would be restricted to 6,000 posts per day, while unverified accounts would be limited to 600 posts per day.
Additionally, new unverified accounts were initially allowed only 300 posts per day.
However, Musk later revised these limitations, increasing the temporary reading cap to 10,000 posts per day for verified users, 1,000 posts per day for unverified users, and 500 posts per day for new unverified users.
