A video shows, it was raining fish in Karachi, Pakistan today. A Twitter user named Majida Malik shared the clip showing fish lying in her home’s balcony and garden after the rain in the metropolis city.

Majida said in her tweet, “It rained fish in my house! Can someone explain what is this phenomenon? For context, I live almost 1 km from Karachi sea! #karachirain”

However, this is not the first time that it has rained fish, similar incidents have been reported in several cities, countries around the world. In 2014, villagers in west Sri Lanka reportedly said, that they have been surprised and delighted by an unusual rainfall of small fish. Another incident of rain of fish was recorded in Singapore in 1861, when during three days of torrential rain numerous fish were found in puddles.

Twitter is trending with hashtag #Karachirain and residents have shared videos showing traffic jams, roads getting inundated with rainwater, and clips of other incidents during rain in Karachi.

It’s monsoon season, therefore rain in Karachi is expected to continue for the next few days followed by dust storms according to the notification issued by the Met Department.

List of Karachi areas where it rained today include Jamshed Road, Bahadurabad, PECHS, Soldier Bazaar, University Road, Gulshan-e-Hadid, Abdullah Haroon Road, Shah Faisal Colony, Shahrah-e-Faisal, Fawwara Chowk, Model Colony, Saddar, Clifton, Malir, Gulistan-e-Johar, Garden, Dhoraji and M.A. Jinnah Road.
