AirPods not charging despite being plugged in, users report issues

AirPods Not Charging Slow

Apple AirPod, first released in December 2016, is a wireless Bluetooth earbud. Today, hundreds of millions of people across the world use this device. Apple AirPods are so popular because they’re lightweight, reliable, and easy to use. That’s not all; people also love them because they can connect with any Bluetooth device, including smartphones and smart TVs. Another reason AirPods are popular is that they always receive updates, which helps to improve the user experience. Recently, Apple rolled out a new update (version 4E71) to the devices. Unfortunately, this new update introduced an annoying issue, in which the AirPods are either not charging or charging slow.

As amazing as Apple’s AirPods are, they also have their issues. Not long ago, we reported some issues affecting AirPods and AirPods Pro users. In case you missed out on them, you can check here (1,2,3) to have a look. Adding to the list of AirPods issues is a new one, in which the devices are not charging or are slow to charge.

Some of the affected users mentioned their AirPods are not charging at all. The issue started after they received the new 4E71 update. You can check here (1,2,3) to see some of these reports.

According to some other affected users, the AirPods devices could charge when plugged into an electric source. The only issue they get is that the devices either get stuck or are slow to charge. Being “stuck” means the devices often stop charging when they reach a certain percentage, failing to charge to 100%. You can check below and here (1,2) to read some of these reports.

Is there any fix to resolve these issues?

Sadly, there’s currently no official statement from Apple to acknowledge the issues, in which the users’ AirPods are not charging or are slow to charge. As such, there’s no fix yet to resolve the problem.

Since many people are experiencing the issues, we hope Apple will come up with a fix pretty soon. We’ll keep monitoring the Apple team for any updates on this matter. As soon as anything worthwhile comes up, we’ll keep you posted about it here.
