The White House and surrounding roads were closed on Sunday as the U.S. Secret Service responded to an incident involving the discovery of cocaine on the White House complex, The Washington Post reported. In a precautionary measure, the White House grounds were evacuated, and a hazmat team from the D.C. Fire and EMS was called in.

D.C fire official evacuated grounds, reports presence of ‘cocaine hydrochloride’ at the White House

According to a transmission captured on openmhz.com, a D.C. fire official reported the presence of “cocaine hydrochloride” at the White House. The Washington Post has independently verified the authenticity of the transmission, which was timestamped at 8:49 p.m. on Sunday night.

Meanwhile, the Biden family returned to the White House for Independence Day celebrations, despite the ongoing investigation. President Joe Biden, First Lady Jill Biden, their son Hunter, his wife Melissa, and their three-year-old son Beau arrived via Marine One on Tuesday.

Preliminary tests conducted on the white powder confirmed that it contained cocaine, DailyMail reported. The Secret Service is currently conducting an investigation into the incident to determine the source and circumstances surrounding the discovery.

As the investigation unfolds, authorities are working to ensure the safety and security of the White House, its occupants, and the surrounding area. The ongoing investigation into the incident was met with silence from the Secret Service when approached by Daily Mail.

Secret Service conducts tests to confirm if the substance was an illegal drug

U.S. Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Gulielmi informed the Washington Post that they are currently conducting further tests to confirm whether the substance is indeed an illegal drug. Furthermore, it was clarified that President Joe Biden was not present in the executive mansion at the time of the substance’s discovery, according to DailyMail.

The report comes two days after Hunter Biden was last observed at the White House while accompanying his father to Camp David for the extended weekend, according to Daily Mail.

There have been unfounded speculations from trolls suggesting that the president’s son, who has struggled with addiction, may be connected to the illicit substance. It is worth noting that the White House library, where the discovery took place, is accessible to the public during tours and is located two floors below the residential area of the first family.
