According to multiple reports, iOS users are experiencing a reload issue with Google Maps where the app keeps refreshing or restarting.

Reports of Google Maps reload or refreshing location

Athough Google Maps is beneficial for millions of people, some iPhone users are having trouble navigating the app.

They claim that the app reloads and loses active locations every time it is put to the background, even for brief periods of time.

A user posted: “Whenever I leave the Google Maps app then return to it on my iPhone it clears my destination and route information so I need to type it in and conduct the search again. How do I stop this from happening? IOS 16.2 iPhone XS Max.”

“I use Google Maps daily but I rarely start the navigation, I just use it to show me the journey. Every time I exit the app and come back, it refreshes and I have to look for the directions again. How do I stop this?” another user posted.

Some people are finding it difficult to commute to various or distant destinations as a result of this glitch. This bug has also reduced the app’s utility for some users.

The problem has persisted for several weeks, and the developers have yet to resolve it. As a result, some people are annoyed and frustrated.

Some users have even attempted resetting the app’s location and privacy settings, relaunching their smartphones, and reinstalling Google Maps. But nothing has worked.

It’s worth noting that some iOS owners are reporting similar behavior on other Google apps as well.

Possible cause of issues + acknowledgment from Google

According to one Redditor, the problem appeared following a recent iOS update.

They replied to a user’s tweet: “Happening to me too after I updated to new iOS.”

Thankfully, Google Maps Twitter customer support has informed a user that the feedback will be forwarded to the appropriate team for further investigation.

We hope Google fixes the issue soon because Google Maps is quite a useful app that helps people reach their destinations. There are no potential workarounds to resolve the issue at the moment.
