Half of France has recorded 40C since start of heatwave: AFP analysis

More than 50 departments across mainland France recorded temperatures of 40C or higher since the latest heatwave began on June 17, an AFP analysis of weather data showed Wednesday.

Weather stations in 54 of mainland France’s 96 departments recorded temperatures of 40C or higher from then until Tuesday, mainly in the west and south of the country, AFP found.
