Imran Khan coronavirus test result

UPDATE 9:50 PM Pakistan Standard Time – Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan has tested negative for COVID-19, says spokesperson Dr. Shahbaz Gill. Here’s what he stated in the tweet:

Prime Minister Imran Khan was tested today for SARS-CoV-2 (the virus strain that causes coronavirus disease 2019 [COVID-19]). The test used was a polymerase chain reaction (PCR). I am happy to report that his test is NEGATIVE.

Following the positive result of Faisal Edhi, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has been advised to get a Coronavirus test. That’s because he had a meeting with the son of philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi, days before his result came out.

Why did Imran Khan meet Faisal Edhi?

Recall that Faisal Edhi, the head of Edhi Foundation and the son of late philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi, met with the Prime minister last week. The meeting, which took place in Islamabad, was in line with Faisal Edhi’s interest to donate Rs10 million to the PM’s COVID-19 relief fund. However, with the positive result of the philanthropist’s son, it was advised to Imran Khan by his doctor to also go for the Coronavirus test.

According to Faisal Sultan, Khan’s doctor and CEO of Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital, he said he advised the PM to go into isolation. Furthermore, they followed all protocols and conducted Imran Khan’s Coronavirus test, this was done to prove that Imran Khan is also a responsible citizen of Pakistan.

Saad, Faisal Edhi’s son, has also reportedly given updates about his father. He said his father started showing symptoms on April 15, a day after meeting with the Prime minister Imran Khan. He added that the symptoms lasted for four days before becoming less intense. Furthermore, he said that his father is presently in Islamabad, where he is doing fine in isolation. Here’s a brief of what he said:

“The symptoms lasted for four days before subsiding. He has not been admitted to any hospital and is self-isolating presently in Islamabad”

Imran Khan waiting for his coronavirus result

On Tuesday, Pakistan recorded 673 new cases and 16 new Coronavirus deaths. With that, the country’s toll has now moved to 209. Apart from that, the number of confirmed cases has also moved to 9,749 people across the country. And about 2,156 Coronavirus positive tested people have also been reported to have recovered or discharged throughout the country.

With all of these cases, coupled with Khan going into isolation, it’s unclear how he’s going to run the government. Since now it’s confirmed that he has taken the coronavirus test and now waiting for the result to come out anytime soon. For now, it is better for him to remain in isolation to prevent further spreading.
