A bright, fast-moving object with a vivid green trail was reported over Islamabad and nearby Rawalpindi on the night of September 15, prompting speculation that residents may have witnessed a meteor or an unusually bright fireball.
The sighting drew attention online after a Reddit user asked whether anyone else had seen what they described as a “shooting star” over Islamabad. According to the eyewitness, the object flashed across the sky so quickly that there was no time to record it. They described a distinct green trail and said its colors and visibility were unusually vivid.

Another user in the discussion said they had seen the object from Gujrat, suggesting the phenomenon may have been visible across a considerably wider area than the Islamabad-Rawalpindi region. One commenter proposed that the object could have been a fireball, while the original poster said its appearance resembled examples of fireballs they had subsequently seen.
The eyewitness accounts alone do not establish exactly what crossed the sky, although the descriptions echo another striking meteor sighting reported in Pakistan last year.
In March 2025, Karachi residents reported seeing a fast-moving fiery object passing over the city during the early hours of the morning. Business Recorder reported that the orange object was visible at around 2:43 a.m. before fading from view. Several residents managed to capture its movement on their mobile phones.
For now, the Islamabad sighting remains an intriguing celestial event, with reports from multiple locations adding weight to observations that a bright object briefly crossed the skies over northern Pakistan.
