Joe Biden tested negative for COVID-19

is second virtual debate canceled

Breaking news from the United States indicates that Presidential candidate, Joe Biden has tested negative for Covid-19. The rumors and speculations regarding Joe Biden contracting the virus arose when Donald Trump was confirmed for carrying the virus today.

Joe Biden met Donald Trump this Tuesday when the two spoke to each other in the first presidential debate. However, due to the pandemic, minimal contact between them was ensured. Moreover, they were instructed not to shake hands and to stay several feet apart from each other during the 90-minute debate. During the debate, neither man was seen wearing a mask on stage, nor did debate moderator Chris Wallace wear a mask. However, Trump and Biden’s podiums were placed at a distance of 8 ft. apart. The Centers for Disease Control’s recent guidance for social distancing is 6 ft.

Biden and his wife test negative for Covid-19

After several hours of worries, it has been confirmed that Joe Biden is not positive for COVID-19. Joe Biden tweeted the following, “I’m happy to report that Jill and I have tested negative for COVID. Thank you to everyone for your messages of concern. I hope this serves as a reminder: wear a mask, keep social distance, and wash your hands” to announce that he and his wife had tested negative.

Earlier today, US President Donald Trump has announced (of course, on Twitter) that he and first lady Melania Trump have tested positive for COVID-19. The Counselor to the President, Hope Hicks, has also tested positive.

His fans have rejoiced at the news. However, the co-founder of the Covid-19 Tracking Project rained on this parade by tweeting, “A negative PCR test today does not mean that someone escaped infection. The virus can incubate for more than a week before it’s detectable. Anyone who was exposed to the president should continue to monitor symptoms and, if they have the means or ability, get tested.”

Biden sends best wishes to Trump

It is important to acknowledge that Joe Biden and several others were recently in contact with Donald Trump, for their tests to be completely accurate, they will need further examinations. As noted by many, it can take even weeks after the initial exposure for symptoms to show.

Joe Biden also sent his wishes for recovery to Donald Trump in the following tweet, “Jill and I send our thoughts to President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump for a swift recovery. We will continue to pray for the health and safety of the president and his family.” People praised him in the comments for showing true leadership and wearing his mask. A user commented, “I just gained a lot of respect for you Mr. Vice President, even if I’m a Trump supporter. Thank you for putting political differences aside. I’m sure the President would have done the same for you.
