Lately, the well-known crowdfunding website, Patreon, has been facing a worrisome increase in problems, particularly the ‘declined or failed payment’ error.

Reports of Patreon ‘declined or failed payment’ error

Ever since it started, Patreon has offered a great opportunity for creators to earn money from their work, and for fans to show their love and support by subscribing regularly. However, the rising number of payment problems has worried both creators and supporters.

A user posted on Reddit: “My bank flagged this month’s payments as fraudulent. Not completely sure why since they are the same amounts as before. Does anyone know how Patreon handles rerunning transactions? One of their help pages mentions a rerun button in settings, but I cannot find it.”

It appears that these payment issues tend to happen more frequently in August for some users. One person shared that their payment declines increased by 50% compared to the previous month during this time.

For content creators, these errors have been extremely distressing. Patreon is an essential income source for many, and these unpredictable payment issues can seriously affect their financial stability.

Another user also shared their experience of facing numerous payment declines on the app. It’s not just payment issues; there was even a bug reported last year about the iOS app feed not loading properly. So, this isn’t the first time the app has encountered problems and malfunctioned.

Issue acknowledged

Luckily, Patreon is aware of the increasing payment problems. They have acknowledged the issue and are currently looking into it.

“We are aware of an issue regarding a slight increase of declined payments. We are actively investigating this situation and appreciate your patience while it is resolved,” they posted.

A user replied to their tweet: “You should refund the cut you take from every single creator this month. it’s wild that this keeps happening. absolutely shameful.”

Thankfully, Patreon is replying to users individually and saying that they are working on resolving the issue.

By figuring out the reasons behind these problems and taking proactive steps, Patreon aims to make the payment process smoother and more dependable for everyone involved.
