A new issue involving severe FPS dropping is being reported by Rainbow Six Siege players on PS4 and PS5. As per reports, the issue seems to be caused by the Y8S1 update.

Rainbow Six Siege is a tactical shooter that prioritizes teamwork, strategy, and lethality. The game is currently in its eighth year, and the developers have added a new Battle Pass path system.

The linear system of progression has been replaced by branching pathways, allowing players to strategize and obtain rewards more quickly.

Reports of Rainbow Six Siege fps dropping issue

Players affected by the issue report that the game starts up smoothly, but then the FPS suddenly fluctuates, causing lag and stuttering.

This happens during gunfights, making it impossible to control gun spray. In some cases, FPS drops from 90 to 1 before returning to 40 and then 20.

Even after verifying the game file, restarting their console, and updating all drivers and the game to the latest version, players still experience the FPS drops.

A user shared on social media: “Anyone else been getting the fps icon flash along with massive lag/choppy gameplay my ping is low around 20 but I donโ€™t know what could be causing it whether itโ€™s on my end or not.”

“Okay good, I thought me and my friend were the only ones. Itโ€™s literally unplayable 120 fps drops to like 40 every 10 seconds or so,” another person shared.

Players unable to invite friends

Crossplay also appears to be an issue. Reports indicate that players may not be able to invite friends to their party, or a “failed to do the action” error message may appear.

In some cases, the game may indicate that the party is locked, or invites may fail to be delivered.

“@UbisoftSupport i am trying to play with a friend on ps5 Iโ€™m on Xbox series s and Iโ€™m not getting error messages it’s just bugging out and not letting us invite each other fix it,” an affected player posted.

FPS drops are frustrating, and the developers are being urged to fix this issue as soon as possible. Ubisoft is working to resolve the issue but there are no workarounds for a temporary fix.
