The US Energy Information Administration (EIA), created on October 1, 1977, is an agency of the U.S. Federal Statistical System. The agency is responsible for analyzing, collecting, and providing information regarding coal, natural gas, petroleum, electric, renewable and nuclear energy. According to recent data compiled by the EIA, the United States is the first on the list of top 10 oil-producing countries in the world. Next is Saudi Arabia, which is followed closely by Russia.

Unarguably, the outbreak of coronavirus had a significant impact on oil demand. However, with travel restrictions now ending in some parts of the world, oil demands have started to increase. 10- Kuwait (2.94 Million Barrels Per Day)

Kuwait is currently the tenth on the list of top 10 oil-producing countries in the world. That’s because the country produces up to 2,940,000 barrels per day. However, this is a significant increase when you compare with the country’s production rate of 2,825,000 bbl/day and 2,870,000 bbl/day, in 2017 and 2018, respectively.

9- Iran (3.19 Million Barrels Per Day)

As of 2018, Iran produced up to 4,471,000 barrels of oil daily. However, entering 2019, the country’s oil output decreased to 3,190,000 million bbl/day. Because of that, the country now sits on the ninth position on the list of top 10 oil-producing countries in the world.

8- Brazil (3.67 Million Barrels Per Day)

In 2018, Brazil’s oil production rate was about 3,428,000 barrels per day. However, the country was able to boost its production rate in 2019 to about 3,678,000 barrels per day. Apart from oil, which takes the highest percentage of Brazil’s total energy consumption, others include natural gas and hydroelectricity.

7- United Arab Emirate (4.10 Million Barrels Per Day)

Currently, the United Arab Emirates is the seventh on the list of top 10 oil-producing countries in the world. That’s because the country now produces about 4,010,000 barrels of oil daily. Comparing this with previous years’ production rate, it shows that the country’s production rate has significantly increased.

6- Iraq (4.74 Million Barrels Per Day)

In 2018, Iran was able to increase its oil production rate to 4,616,000 barrels per day, regaining its position as sixth on the list of top 10 oil-producing countries in the world. Although the country has been able to achieve a slight increase in 2019 to 4,740,000 barrels daily, it still remains on the same spot on the list.

5- China (4.89 Million Barrels Per Day)

In 2018, China’s oil production output was around 4,779,000 barrels per day. In 2019, however, the country achieved a slight increase in its production rate to 4,890,000 barrels daily. As such, the country is now the fifth-highest oil-producing country in the world. Talking about the consumption rate, the country is the second-largest consumer of oil – all thanks to its large population.

4- Canada (5.50 Million Barrels Per Day)

As of 2018, Canada’s oil production output was at 5,295,000 barrels per day. However, a year after, the country was able to boost the production rate to 5,500,000 barrels daily. Most of the country’s oil reserves are located in Alberta, with 97% of them being in the form of oil sand.

3- Russia (11.49 Million Barrels Per Day)

Over the years, Russia has steadily been increasing its oil production outputs. For instance, in 2018, the country’s output was around 11,401,000 barrels per day. And in 2019, the country slightly increased to 11,490,000 barrels daily. With this output, Russia is still the third on the list of top 10 oil-producing countries in the world.

2- Saudi Arabia (11.81 Million Barrels Per Day)

Saudi Arabia saw a decline in its oil production between 2018 and 2019. As of 2018, the country’s oil production output was around 12,419,000 barrels daily. Currently, with an output of 11,810,000 barrels per day, the country sits on the second position on this list.

1- United States (19.51 Million Barrels Per Day)

Currently, the US is the highest oil-producing country in the world. In 2018, the country’s production output was around 17,886,000 barrels of oil, daily. However, the country was able to boost the output in 2019, achieving up to 19,510,000 bbl/day. Apart from being the largest oil-producing country, the US is also one of the largest consumers of oil.
