Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 5G ‘Network Issues’ Reported After MIUI 12 Update

Android 12 release date, features and rumors

The Mi Mix 3, released on 25 October 2018 in Beijing, is Xiaomi’s first smartphone to support the 5G network. The Chinese OEM announced the 5G version of the device on 24 February 2019, at its MWC event. Furthermore, the device launched with a host of amazing features, including running MIUI 10 based on Android 9.0 Pie out-of-the-box. Unfortunately, the device didn’t receive MIUI 11 or Android 10 update. A few months ago, the company made an announcement that it has no plans to roll out the latest MIUI 12 update. However, it later confirmed that it was going to offer Pie-based MIUI 12 for the device, although we missed out on the statement. Well, the Chinese company has fulfilled its promise and rolled the MIUI 12 update to the European Mi MIX 3 5G variant. However, just like most updates with issues, this one also comes with 5G network-related problems.

Mi MIX 3 MIUI 12 Update Brings 5G Network Issues

Being the first 5G smartphone by Xiaomi, Mi Mix 3 5G wasn’t able to receive the proper software support that it deserved. While the exact reason for that is still unknown, it’s likely because of its poor sales figure. However, all thanks to a petition signed by some users of the phone on Change.org, Xiaomi has now pushed out the MiUI 12 update, based on Android Pie, to the Mi Mix 3 5G smartphones.

Speaking of the new MIUI 12 update, it’s first available for European Mi MIX 3 5G variant, with build V12.0.1.0.PEMEUXM. While this looks like a dream comes true for users of the device, a few of them have now taken to the Mi Community, complaining about 5G network issues.

According to a Jørgen Dysvik Bjørke, the Mi Mix 3 5G user took to the Mi community to warn other users of the phone about the risk attached to the MIUI 12 update. Speaking about the issue, the user said the new update disabled the 5G network for the European Mi MIX 3 5G variant.

Here’s the warning message issued by Bjørke regarding the 5G network issue below:

“As recommended by user Criticaldany, I recommend those who still want 5G-service to stay on Vodafone’s vendor-ROM (PEMEUVF). It appears Global Stable PEMEUXM has no 5G-support anymore…”

Any Response Yet From Xiaomi?

Let’s face it! It’s really a disappointing thing for many users, who have waited a long time to receive the update. For now, the company is yet to release any official statement to address the issue. However, we’re hopeful that it will come up with updates that matter to fix the problem sooner than later.

As usual, we’ll keep an eye on Xiaomi on any updates regarding the Mi Mix 3 5G network issues. As soon as we find anything worth sharing, we’ll keep you updated here.
