After a few weeks of the Google Pixel 7 Pro release, users reported receiving the ‘connected but not charging’ issue on their device. Other issues such as ‘No Service’ and ‘No SIM card’ and slow charging problems also came to light recently.

Reports of Google Pixel 7 Pro connected but not charging issue

According to multiple social media reports, users were facing charging problems with their Google Pixel 7 Pro devices. After putting their phone on charge, they get an error displaying ‘Connected, not charging.

“Hi I tried charging my pixel 7 with a USB C to USB A cable with a standard USB A adapter and a Samsung USB A adapter and it refuses to charge. It is stuck at “Connected, Not charging” It only charges with the cable included in the box connected to my laptop’s USB C port,” a user posted.

“Like the title says when I connect my Pixel 7 pro it says, connected, not charging. Tried several USB c cables, on pc, charger etc,” another user posted.

An affected user posted: “Jumped from Pixel 5 to 7 for the last 2 days, and just noticed that the cable in my car is not charging- it’s working fine for Android auto but showing “connected, not charging” in battery settings.”

Most users also reported using third-party cables or charging bricks as charging accessories. According to users, the issue wouldn’t have come up if the phones came with their exclusive charges from the company.

Recently, reports of Pixel 6a and Pixel 6 users getting ‘Connected, not charging’ while plugging their devices into third-party chargers are showing up.

Apparently, the issue seems to be the lack of support for PD and PPS charging protocols in some third-party chargers.

Potential workarounds

Luckily users have come up with workarounds to help others charge their phones.

One user shared that factory resetting their device resolved their charging issue. However, if you don’t want to factory reset your phone, there are other options.

You can turn off ‘Adaptive charging’ in your phone’s Settings. It might solve the issue for you. Additionally, affected users can purchase a charger that supports PD and PPS charging protocols to be able to charge their phones without interruption.
