Lately, LG TV owners are frustrated with the service and have asked how to turn off notifications and ads. While the company has replied to individual queries, they have not issued an official statement.

Reports and complaints from users

Nobody wants to be interrupted while watching their favorite shows or movies. And it gets worse as these interruptions become more frequent.

According to the reports when users turn on their TV, they are met with a number of unwanted notifications and advertisements.

“Hi all. My LG OLED started showing notifications (what’s new/advertisements/annoying) on startup. This seems like a new feature, but does anyone know how to disable them?” a user reported.

“@LGUS I know someone there thought it was a great idea to deliver inescapable ad notifications to your #OLED smart TVs. As a customer though, I’m here to tell you it sucks and drags down your product quality. 7 or 8 messages popping up every day when I turn on my TV,” another said.

Unfortunately, the support team has not yet officially acknowledged the problem or given any ETA for the fix.

Possible workarounds to turn off LG TV notifications

There are a number of solutions that have worked for some users. You can try to see which ones work for you.

Firstly, you can try basic troubleshooting steps recommended by LG support. Apparently, these have worked for some affected users.

“Hey, Sergio! We understand how frustrating unwanted ads can be, so let’s see if this works. Please complete the following steps:
settings > general > system > additional settings > home settings > turn off home auto launch and promotion,” they replied to a user’s tweet.

Additionally, you can try this workaround by a Redditor.

One user has also resolved the issue by disabling their Wi-Fi. But this is not an ideal solution as it blocks access to the web.

There are also some users who have recommended changing the location to a different region. They claim that this has helped them get rid of the annoying notifications and ads. Therefore, you can also try these workarounds and check if the issue gets resolved.
