The incident has raised concerns about parents becoming distracted by social media while supervising their children. The husband and wife were walking in the shallow, turbulent waters of a beach while using a selfie stick to capture a reel. Distracted by the camera, the parents walked ahead, leaving the toddler behind.
The toddler, left unattended, wandered dangerously close to the breaking waves. The child is seen struggling as ocean waves crash around her. She slips and falls on the wet sand when a nearby stranger realizes the danger. He immediately rushes to grab the little girl’s hand and carries her back to safety.
Toward the end of the footage, the father looks back toward where the child had been. He appears to smile, showing no obvious sign of alarm in the footage.
