Pixel Stand Issue Reported By Google Pixel 5 Users

Google Pixel 5 overheating issue

Google Pixel 5, launched on October 15, 2020, is one of the latest Android smartphones across the world. Speaking of the newly released device, it packs a host of amazing features and specifications. One of them is that it comes, powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chipset, offering support for the 5G network. Apart from that, the device features a 6-inch display, 8GB of RAM, up to 128GB internal storage, and many more. Furthermore, Google announced the Pixel stand in October 2018, alongside the Pixel 3 smartphones. And so far, many users have been using it to charge their devices, which offers support for Qi wireless charging. However, according to the latest reports, it seems the early buyers of Google Pixel 5 are experiencing an issue while trying to use the Pixel Stand with their smartphones.

Pixel Stand Issue Troubles Pixel 5 Owners

Many Google Pixel 5 users have now taken to various social media platforms, including Reddit and Google Support page, reporting that they’re experiencing an issue with the Pixel Stand. While explaining the problem, the affected users mentioned that anytime they try using the Pixel 5 and stand for charging, it automatically turns their devices to full brightness. The annoying part is that the issue occurs during the night, even when the ‘Screen Off When Dark’ option is enabled. Now, the Pixel 5 users are calling on Google to roll out a fix to address the annoying Pixel Stand issue. Let’s have a look at some of the complaints below:

Here’s what MK73, a Google Pixel 5 user, said regarding the Pixel Stand issue below.

“I have the same problem with my Pixel 5: the display turns off when it is dark but after a few minutes (less than 5) the display turns on again and stays on.”

A moderator on the company’s Support page suggested that affected users should “try toggling the setting off and on again and reboot the phone”. However, it seems the workaround isn’t effective to address the annoying Stand issue that’s affecting the Pixel 5 phones. Here’s what MK73 said regarding that below:

“Toggling the setting off and on again and rebooting didn’t help, turning “Always on Display” off didn’t help either. I also removed the Pixel Stand from the connected devices and connected it again. The problem didn’t occur with my Pixel 3XL and 4 XL.”

Will There Be A Fix To Address The Issue?

For now, we still don’t know the exact cause of the Google Pixel 5 stand issue. However, according to some reports, it seems the problem occurs, as a result of the proximity sensor placed under the screen.

Currently, Google hasn’t released an official statement to address the problem. However, since a lot of people are experiencing the issue, we’re hopeful that the company will roll out a fix to address it sooner than later. We’ll keep an eye on the company for you, and as soon as we find anything worth sharing, we’ll let you know about it.
