Many Instagram users are reporting that the link in their bio and stories is not working. Instead, it takes them to the Instagram home page.

Meanwhile, some users are also receiving the ‘We’re sorry but something went wrong’ error after clicking on the bio.

Reports of Instagram bio link not working for users

Users took to their social media and asked other people if they were experiencing the same issue. They posted screenshots of the error and reached out for support.

“@instagram why every time I tap the link in someone’s bio it goes to http://instagram.com?!” wrote one user.

Another person reported: “Everyone’s link in bio feature on Instagram isn’t working at all for me. What’s up with this. It keeps taking me to a web version of IG.”

“When I click a link on Instagram from a Story or bio instead of taking me to where the link goes it sends me to the online version of Instagram can anyone help me fix this??”

A user should ideally be directed to someone’s website or profile by clicking on a link in their bio or narrative. But it keeps pointing users toward Instagram’s website.

The URLs in certain individuals’ direct messages are also inaccessible. The most recent app update might have been the root of the problem.

In reality, we recently noticed that Instagram and Facebook stories began auto-playing with audio in silent mode following a fresh update.

And worse, there are instances where the link in the bio completely fails to open on Android. And on an iPhone, it functions flawlessly.

No acknowledgment but potential workarounds

While there is no official word from Instagram yet, some users have found some potential workarounds to resolve the issue.

One user said the classic deleting and reinstalling the app method worked for them. While others said re-logging into the app can resolve the issue.

A Redditor confirmed that the bug only seems to affect the Instagram app for them. They reported that the browser version does not have such an issue.

Moreover, the issue still exists even after the Instagram app’s latest update on Play Store with v252.0.0.17.111.
