TikTok Users Can’t Switch Back to Personal Accounts from Business

TikTok Switch Back to Personal accounts from business

Tiktok businesses often switch back to their personal accounts for many reasons. Due to copyright laws, TikTok heavily restricts businesses to royalty-free and commercial audio. As such, to gain access to millions of popular songs, these accounts often revert to personal accounts. Additionally, TikTok automatically switches some accounts to business. Users who don’t want this often switch back to personal accounts. However, according to new reports, it appears that TikTok users are now struggling to switch back to personal accounts from business accounts.

Why can’t TikTok Users switch back to personal accounts from business?

New reports indicate that TikTok is making its rules stricter for business accounts. This new development is currently sparking confusion among users, as personal account owners are also facing the same issue.

On Reddit, TikTok business account owners reported that the company is enforcing a stricter verification process. This is linked to advanced features like analytics, ads, and the TikTok shop. Today, these users are reporting that switching to personal accounts now comes with a strict verification process. For instance, Shot_Cut_1649 on the r/TikTok thread said: “I have a private account with only 8 followers of close friends and keep many personal stuff there but TikTok turned my account into a business today and I can’t turn it back no matter how many times I try to.”

Recall that recently, TikTok notified users to verify as a business or get converted back into personal accounts. Looking at this, we can safely say that the need for verification before switching from a business account to a personal account is odd. As such, this issue is likely bug-related.

Understanding how to make the switch easily

If you’re still unable to switch back to a TikTok personal account from a business, you may want to try the workaround below. As suggested on Reddit, what you need is to sign up for TikTok Ads Manager on the desktop site. When doing this, ensure to only verify your email. Also, ensure to ignore the business fields during the sign-up process. These steps will bypass the strict verification process, allowing you to use your profile as a personal account.

The new policy development is certainly affecting many users. But understand that some users are never affected by the change in policies. A good example is if you run a personal account that doesn’t run any ads. The same thing goes for organic creators and non-commercial accounts. These users certainly don’t need to go through any strict verification process. The only reason they may need to submit any verification documents is if they have switched to Business mode manually at some point. The need for verification may also arise if the account has already enabled TikTok monetization features at some point.
