According to multiple Android users, the ‘Trusted places’ option went missing in Smart Lock after the recent update.

The Smart Lock feature helps users secure their devices in a systematic manner. The ‘Trusted places’ option in Smart Lock is even more helpful as it sets a particular physical location at which their phone will stay unlocked.

Reports of ‘Trusted places’ option disappeared in Smart Lock on Android

Many users have taken to social media to report the disappearance of the ‘Trusted places’ in Smart Lock features.

“It seems like Google removed the “Trusted Places” feature under the Smart Lock feature? Only On Body Detection and Trusted Devices is there now,” a user posted.

Is anyone else having issues with ‘Trusted Places’ option no longer showing under ‘Smart Lock’? I also noticed my ‘Trusted Devices’ have been removed, a user posted on Reddit.

“Hello guys, I was wondering if anyone of you encountered the disappearing of trusted places in the smart lock, It seems to me, it has disappeared, I only have body detection and trusted devices on,” another post read.

It looks like the issue was previously occurring on  Google Pixel devices but gradually showed up in other devices too.

Reports suggest that the issue emerged after a Google Play Services update in mid of September. After the Google update, the Smart Lock setting showed the ‘Trusted devices’ and ‘On-body detection’ features for only some users. However, there are still some people affected by the issue.

Potential workaround

A recent report by 9to5Google stated thev22.39.12 update for Google Play Services has resolved the persisting issue. While the Google Play update has restored the feature for some, there are still many users who didn’t get the option.

Here is a potential workaround for users still affected by the issue. They can try to remove the recent update for Google Play Services, as recommended by a Product Expert.

The Trusted places missing option has also been marked as ‘Assigned’ on the Google Issue Tracker. This means that the developers are possibly working for a fix. There has been no official acknowledgement or statement from Google.
