Many users upgraded their iPhones but were not satisfied with the performance or battery life. Here is a simple guide on how to downgrade iOS 16 to iOS 15.

Users can only revert to iOS 15.7 or iOS 15.6.1. They cannot go back to the older versions of iOS as the options are not available.

Simple steps to downgrade iOS 16 to iOS 15

  • You can download the iOS 15.7 or iOS 15.6.1 versions for your iPhone from this website.
  • Check if there is a green mark in the Apple Signing Status section. If you do not find a checkmark, do not follow.
  • Disable Find My iPhone on your iPhone. Afterward, go to Settings -> tap on your name at the top of the menu -> Tap on your name at the top -> Tap on Find My iPhone -> Toggle off and put your iCloud password.
  • You will then have to back up your phone and plug your iPhone into your PC after following all the steps above.

  • Open iTunes on the desktop and Click on the iPhone icon. If you have upgraded your mac to macOS Catalina, macOS Big Sur, or macOS Monterey, move on to Finder. So instead of opening iTunes, open Finder and click on your iPhone on the left side.
  • Select the Restore iPhone button with a special click. If you’re using a Mac, hold the alt/option when you click. On PC, hold Shift when you click.
  • A new window will open. Search for iOS 15.7 or iOS 15.6.1 downloaded file. Click on it and then click open the file.
  • Remove your data and restore your iPhone. Click Restore your iPhone to start this process.
  • Meanwhile your iPhone will restart several times. After that, you will be back on iOS 15 – hopefully without any bugs.

You will need a lot of patience to complete the process. When your downgrade finishes, you can start fresh or restore a backup made on iOS 15.7 or iOS 15.6.1.

A lot of users are facing touch issues with the iOS 16, so reverting can be useful for them. While the update brings a lot of new features and security changes, there are a lot of bugs in the latest release. An older version would be a welcome change.
