Many users are experiencing space issues with Google Drive showing a ‘Storage full’ error.

Google Drive is an encrypted and secure cloud-based storage service where users can save their files. There are other beneficial features such as advanced search, starring folders, and file sharing.

Reports of Google Drive ‘Storage full’ error space issue

Many Google Drive users are repeatedly getting the storage is a full error, even with unlimited drive storage.

“I have a big red message in my Gmail saying Storage is Full GET More Storage,” a user posted.

“I have a Google Pixel 4a which is supposed to have unlimited lower quality storage. My account shows almost full and I keep getting notices that I won’t be able to use my email,” another person posted.

According to affected users’ reports, there is a problem with uploading data even after clearing up a significant amount of space. Even after deleting, the documents, photos, videos, and other files keep showing in the Drive folder.

A user posted on Google Drive Help forum with title: Says google drive is full with 15gb when it isn’t. “Keeps saying my google drive is full when I only have 2 files in there and it’s just a google sheet and doc. Really annoying me as now it isn’t letting me edit the files it’s just view only.”

Possible workaround but no official acknowledgment

Users have tried to clean up space on their drive to restore some storage capacity but it has not worked for them. The bug is extremely annoying because users cannot edit or upload files and are constantly getting ‘view only’ permissions.

Some users recommended emptying the trash as a possible fix.

A Google Product Expert has suggested a workaround for users who are unable to upload their data even after purchasing additional storage. We hope the following basic steps help resolve the issue for you.

Unfortunately, Google has not responded to any users’ queries or acknowledged the persisting issue with the Google Drive account storage. Affected users will have to wait for an official statement to see when the issue will be resolved.
