The Chairman of the House Oversight Committee, James Comer, has issued a subpoena to Bank of America, requesting bank records related to three business associates of Hunter Biden.

The committee’s ranking Democrat, Jamie Raskin, disclosed this information in a letter to Comer on Sunday, CNN reported.

House Oversight Committee chair subpoenas bank records of three Hunter Biden associates spanning 14 years

The subpoena requested “all financial records” of the three individuals starting from 2009 to the present. CNN obtained a copy of the letter that revealed the subpoena’s scope.

Bank of America has reportedly provided a significant amount of documents in response to the subpoena, according to a source familiar with CNN.

“The Oversight Committee has subpoenaed and obtained financial records related to the Biden family’s influence peddling,” a committee spokesperson told Fox News Digital.

“These documents solidify our understanding of several areas of concern and have opened new avenues of investigation about the Biden family’s business schemes.”

The subpoena targets John Robinson Walker and other associates of Biden’s son who formed a joint venture with executives of a now-bankrupt Chinese energy conglomerate, the letter stated.

Bank of America has turned over thousands of pages of financial information belonging to Walker. But the bank has declined to comment on the matter.

Subpoena issued to get ahead of an ongoing investigation against Biden family

Through the subpoena, the committee chairman Comer is seeking to access financial information related to the Biden family and its associates.

The president has denied involvement in his son’s foreign business deals, according to CNN.

A spokesperson of House Oversight told CNN that the purpose of the letter was to “get ahead of the information the Oversight Committee is receiving in its investigation of the Biden family’s influence peddling.”

Fox News reported: I fear this wildly overbroad subpoena suggests that your interest in this investigation is not in pursuing defined facts or informing public legislation but conducting a dragnet of political opposition research on behalf of former President Trump,” Raskin said.

Last month, Chairman Comer sent record requests to Eric Schwerin, who is a business partner of Hunter and President Biden’s brother.

Meanwhile, Republicans investigated whether members of the Biden family used Joe Biden‘s position as Vice President to gain access to opportunities globally, according to Fox News.
