Normally, when you open your Instagram account, it should open directly without issues. You should be able to carry out your preferred activities on the platform without restrictions. But this is currently not what many users are experiencing on Instagram. New reports indicate that many users receive a “Your email address may not be secure” error message when trying to access their Instagram accounts.
Understanding the “Your email address may not be secure” error message
It’s partially okay if the error message pops up and users can remove it to continue their activities. What’s not acceptable is the fact that the affected users can’t click away the annoying message. As such, they’re unable to access their Instagram accounts.
Most people are probably getting this error message because they don’t have complete information on Instagram. However, the users said they tried adding new contact details but couldn’t. When they click on the message, they either see “This content is no longer available” or “Page is unavailable right now.”
With hundreds of comments on Reddit and other platforms, it seems this issue is widespread. Unfortunately, the issue didn’t start recently. As noted by PiunikaWeb, some reports regarding the same issue date as far back as 4 months ago. Some users who are fortunate to access their accounts at first eventually get interrupted by a black screen. This prevents their activities from loading. Thereafter, they get hit with the email address security pop-up.

Are there workarounds available?
Other users were able to get to the email verification code stage. Unfortunately, when they try verifying their email, they get stuck. The good news, however, is that there are a few workarounds you can try. They include:
- Opening the link in Incognito Mode or Private Browsing.
- In the private browser mode, consider changing the email and password of the affected Instagram account.
- After that, log back into your account the normal way.
Will this suggestion work? The simple answer is yes. A user on Reddit said: “My girlfriend used this link [link here] on HER phone and changed the email and password associated with my account. I deleted the app on my phone and redownloaded it, then signed in with the new email and password. I hope this helps someone!!”
However, if the aforementioned steps don’t sit well with you, another thing you can do is wait three days. After that, try re-signing into your account. A few of the affected users said this approach also works perfectly. Logging into Instagram from another device also helps bypass the “Your email address may not be secure” error message.
