Multiple Instagram users are complaining that social media platform is not sending a two-factor authentication verification code via sms. Every time a person attempts to log into their accounts, it prompts them to ‘try again in a few minutes.’

This issue is preventing them from accessing their accounts which got banned on Monday.

Instagram not sending two-factor authentication verification SMS code

Instagram suddenly disabled the accounts of thousands of users on Monday without a reason. The company acknowledged the mass suspension issue and resolved it by evening.

Some users even saw a huge drop in their followers. Others tried reaching out to the Instagram support team. Many even posted on Twitter to ask for solutions and express their disappointment.

However, it seems that the issue has not been entirely fixed. Some users are still not able to access their accounts.

Users reported not getting a two-factor authentication verification code and “try again” message upon logging in.

“@InstagramComms @instagram the problem is clearly still persisting! Won’t send an SMS code and has been telling me to “try again in a few minutes” since 10 AM 10/31,” a user tweeted.

“Please disable the 2FA temporarily or send us new codes to our email, because we will probably never receive the login code from an SMS,” another user posted.

“I have not done anything other than getting ‘bounced’ and having Instagram ask me to confirm the verification SMS code they sent, Originally, I thought NBD, but now, hundreds of requests for the code later, I see on this internet if you request too many times they stop sending?!” a user tweeted.

Some Instagram users still can’t access their accounts

On top of the mass suspension issue, concerned users received a ‘User not found’ error message. Although Instagram quickly corrected this issue, it appears that it has not been repaired for all users.

According to the latest reports, some Instagram usernames are still banned, preventing individuals affected from logging in.

With no formal acknowledgment, it appears Instagram is still oblivious to the issue where the app is now not issuing two-factor authentication verification SMS codes.

We hope that the team finds a permanent solution and that Instagram users can reinstate their suspended accounts as soon as possible.
