Apple has been at the top of its game in the past few years. Fans are looking forward to getting their hands on the iPhone 14 Pro Max unveiled on September 7 at the Apple event.

Before upgrading your phone, it is good to compare the iPhone 14 Pro Max vs iPhone 13 Pro Max to make an informed decision. Apple’s CEO Tim Cook claims the iPhone 14 Pro Max is the “most innovative pro lineup yet,” reported The Verge.

Now that the details and specs are out, we can move ahead to compare the phones. Check the key differences between the iPhone 14 Pro Max vs. iPhone 13 Pro Max to see which one is the best choice for you.

Design and display

The iPhone 14 Pro Max looks similar to its predecessor in many ways. However, if you look closely, the latest phone has an updated pill-shaped cutout in the center of the top of the display.

The cutout has the camera array and is an improvement from the tinier notch in iPhone 13 Pro Max. The cutout also has a name- Dynamic Island.

The new software is designed to animate around it so notifications will appear to surround or pop out of the cutout. It’s designed as an always-on display so users can show off their lock screens. The iOS 16 also gives a variety of customization options to users.

Both phones have a 6.7-inch OLED display. However, iPhone 14 Pro Max has a display density of 460 PPI, and the iPhone 13 Pro Max has only 458 PPI display density. They have the same aspect ratio of 19.5:9.

The iPhone 14 Pro Max is available in graphite, silver, and gold colors like the last model and a new deep purple. Unfortunately, Apple has not continued the blue and green color options for this year’s phone.

iPhone 14 Pro Max vs iPhone 13 Pro Max price

While there was speculation about the surge in prices of the iPhone 14 Pro models Apple has kept the iPhone 14 Pro Max at the same $1,099 starting price. So now the Pro Max is only a bit cheaper than Samsung’s Galaxy S22 Ultra, supposedly the nearest competitor to the Pro Max phones.

iPhone 14 Pro Max vs iPhone 13 Pro Camera comparison

The iPhone 14 Pro Max’s 48 MP + 12 MP + 12 MP triple rear camera is a great improvement from the 13 Pro Max’s 12 MP + 12 MP + 12 MP. The front camera resolution, however, is the same.

This year’s iPhone Pro Max model houses wide, ultrawide, and telephoto lenses for the main camera. The 48MP main camera up front is a huge upgrade. The new sensor would mean better photo quality. Apple has also introduced the new Photonic Engine technology. It will further enhance the quality of low-light photos with the 14 Pro Max.

Performance comparison

With the iPhone 14 Pro Max, Apple has brought out the A16 Bionic chip. It is an improved version of the A15 Bionic in last year’s model. The updated A16 Bionic features a 6-core CPU with 2 performance cores, 4 efficiency cores, a 5-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine.

According to Apple, the A16 uses 20% less power than the A15. It also has a GPU with 50% more memory bandwidth than 13 Pro Max. The iPhone 13 Pro Max lasted 12 hours and 16 minutes on Tom’s Guide battery test, making it to their best phone battery life list.

Both 13 Pro Max and 14 Pro Max come with 6 GB RAM. They also have the same Internal Memory of 128 GB. Both phones also have a card slot. The new phone model has a better v16 version of the iOS which is said to be more user-friendly.

We hope comparing both phones helps you make the best decision. Rest assured, both are the top phones out there in the iPhone lineup. If you are not impressed by the upgrades of the iPhone 14 Pro Max, you can stick with your iPhone 13 Pro Max. The latter is a fan favorite and has great features. But if you are looking for a better version, then book your iPhone 14 Pro Max.
