Yesterday, Apple held its October “Hi, Speed” event, and unveiled its 2020 flagship smartphones, iPhone 12 series. As expected, the Cupertino-based giant tech company announced four variants of the new series. They include the iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max. Interestingly, all four smartphones will support the 5G network. In this post, we’ll be comparing the four iPhone 12 smartphones, focusing on their features and specifications. Furthermore, we’ll be grouping that into two categories, which include iPhone 12 mini vs iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro vs iPhone 12 Pro Max.

iPhone 12 vs iPhone 12 Mini Comparison

First, let’s start with the face-off between iPhone 12 vs iPhone 12 mini. Speaking of the design of the two phones, they’re almost the same. They have an almost all-screen front design with a large notch, located at their top. Furthermore, both devices come with a few similar specifications. First, they are both IP68 certified, coming with water resistance that can last up to 30 minutes at a depth of about 6 meters. Apart from that, they also come with the same color options, which include black, blue, green, red, and white.

While still on the iPhone 12 vs iPhone 12 mini, both devices will come with different screen sizes. As for the mini model, it comes with a 5.4 inches OLED display, with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels and a density of 476 pixels per inch. On the other hand, the ordinary iPhone 12 model comes with a 6.1-inch OLED display and resolution of 1170 x 2532 pixels, at a density of 460 PPI.

As far as their camera specs are concerned, the two devices come with two camera lenses at the back. They include a 12MP f/1.6 main sensor and a 12MP ultra-wide lens, which is capable of providing a 120-degree FOV. As for the selfie camera, both the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 come with a 12MP f/2.2 camera. Also, the two devices will be able to capture 4K videos, at 60fps. They can also record in Dolby Vision at 30fps.

Pro vs Pro Max Comparison

Having compared iPhone 12 vs iPhone 12 mini, it’s time to talk about the face-off between the two higher variants, iPhone 12 Pro vs iPhone 12 Pro Max. Starting with the design of the two devices, we noticed that they both have almost the same design and appearance. First, the iPhone 12 Pro models have a metal frame, made of stainless steel material.

Furthermore, just like the two models above, the Pro variants also launch, certified by IP68. With that, it means they possess a water-resistant feature, up to 30 minutes at a distance of about 6 meters. They also come with the same color options, including pacific blue, gold, graphite, and silver. Speaking of their weight and dimensions, the new iPhone 12 Pro comes with 146.7 x 71.5 x 7.4mm and weighs 187g. On the other hand, the iPhone 12 Pro Max comes with a dimension of 160.8 x 78.1 x 7.4mm and weighs 226g.

While still on the iPhone 12 Pro vs iPhone 12 Pro Max, let’s now talk about their display. As for the iPhone 12 Pro model, it comes with the same specifications as the previously mentioned iPhone 12 model. However, the Pro Max model has the largest display of them all. It comes with a 6.7-inch OLED screen, and a resolution of 1284 x 2778 pixels, with a density of 458 ppi.

As for their camera specs, both devices come with a triple camera setup at the back. These include a 12MP f/1.6 main sensor and a 12MP f/2.4 ultra-wide, capable of offering 120-degree FOV. However, they come with different telephoto lenses. As for the Pro model, it comes f/2.0 aperture and allows up to 4x optical zoom. The Pro Max model, on the other hand, has an f/2.2 aperture and enables up to 5x optical zoom. Furthermore, both devices also come with a LiDAR scanner, which will help users to improve low light performance and AR.

As for their selfie camera, they both have the same spec as the first two models. They will also be able to capture 4K video at 60 fps. The only difference, when you compare them with the first two models, is that they’ll be able to record in Dolby Vision at 60fps.
