Rumors regarding the release of the 2022 iPhone series have been around for a while now. Unfortunately, Apple has said nothing regarding when the devices will be available or the features that will come with them. One thing we know for sure is that the Cupertino giant tech company typically unveils new iPhones at almost the same time of the year. As such, we expect the upcoming iPhone 14 to be available by September or October. Apart from the release date, we’ve heard a lot of speculations regarding what the 2022 iPhones will look like. For instance, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman recently confirmed that the Pro models of iPhone 14 will feature a 48MP camera.

In the rest of this post, you’ll find everything you need to know about what Gurman said regarding the upcoming iPhone 14 Pro models, especially their wide-angle camera.

Gurman confirms iPhone 14 Pro models will come with a 48MP camera

In case you don’t know, Mark Gurman is an award-winning journalist. He worked with 9to5Mac for over six years but currently works at Bloomberg as a tech reporter. German is widely popular because he provides accurate reporting on Apple’s product plans.

Recently, Gurman supported most of the rumors about the upcoming iPhone 14 series. In the latest Bloomberg’s “Power On” newsletter, the tech reporter confirmed Apple is still working on the satellite connectivity features for Apple Watch. What that means is the 2022 iPhone 14 will come with the ability to connect to satellite networks when there’s no access to Wi-Fi and cellular network.

Apart from the satellite connectivity features, Gurman also said Apple is looking to differentiate the Pro models of the upcoming iPhone 14 from the non-pro models. He confirmed the rumor that says only the iPhone 14 Pro models will come with a 48MP wide-angle camera. As for the standard models, they will keep the 12-megapixel wide-angle camera that came with the previous iPhone 13 models. Gurman further said the iPhone 14 models will come with a “Pill + Hole” shaped design.

Here’s a brief of what Gurman said in the latest “Power On” newsletter about the 48MP camera:

“From what I’m told, the new 48-megapixel sensor for the wide-angle camera (which is essentially the “main” camera on the iPhone) will be exclusive to the Pro models. The regular iPhone 14 line will stick to a 12-megapixel shooter.”

Another rumor confirmed by Gurman

Apart from the 48MP wide-angle camera of the iPhone 14 Pro models and the satellite connectivity features, Gurman also confirmed a couple of other rumors. In one of our posts, we talked about the rumor regarding iPhone 14 Pro models coming with a brand new A16 Bionic chip. Well, Gurman has now confirmed that the high-end models will indeed come with this powerful processor. He also added the chip will only be exclusive to the Pro models partly because of the global chip shortage. So, the non-Pro models will only feature the A15 Bionic chip.

Also, Gurman mentioned that the non-Pro iPhone 14 model with 6.7 inches screen will be very popular. That’s so because the device will sell “at least $200 less than before.”
