Multiple iPhone 14 Pro Max owners are reporting issues with screen flickering or seeing horizontal lines on their phones.
It appears that this problem affects everyone, even those with brand-new phones. After a short period of inactivity or when the screen automatically shuts off, numerous horizontal lines appear at random.
Reports of iPhone 14 Pro Max screen flickering and horizontal lines
Apple’s iPhone 14 Pro Max, the newest model, stands out thanks to its amazing 6.7-inch display, Dynamic Island, and other features.
However, different display-related problems with smartphones are rather typical. For instance, some iPhone owners have experienced flickering since installing the iOS 16 upgrade.
“Bought a iPhone 14 pro max three days ago and they appearing “ white horizontal lines “ on the screen before unlocked some times, why?. Updates and iOS are the latest,” a user reported.
There was even an identical problem with the iPhone 13 that was followed by a “rainbow screen of death.”
One of the impacted users speculates that the problem is the result of a batch of LG screens that were faulty. So the flickering problem appeared when Apple added those defective displays to the iPhone 14 Pro Max handsets.
For those that are impacted, this is very concerning and has also led them to phone in for a replacement.
“Sometimes when I want to wake up my phone the screen turns on just like the television. You can see white light exactly in the middle of the screen that is spreading across the whole screen. This process takes up to 3 seconds then you see your wallpaper. Is it a bug? Has anyone noticed the same issue?” a Redditor posted.
No official acknowledgment or workaround
While Apple has not officially acknowledged the issue, they have replied to some affected users’ complaints and asked for feedback.
“We’re here to help with the display on your iPhone 14 Pro Max. Use the following link to join us in DM and let us know if you’re seeing multiple horizontal lines, along with the iOS version shown in Settings > General > About. This will help guide us through steps,” an Apple support member replied.
Unfortunately, there isn’t a solution that can temporarily fix the problem. Therefore, users will have to wait for a fix. Hopefully, it will be available soon.
