Google Pixel 11 signals dropping issue: causes and fix

The Pixel 11 series is, undoubtedly, one of the best smartphone lineups released in 2026. The smartphones launched with some amazing features, such as the upgraded Tensor G6 processor and an improved cellular modem. But as lovely as the Pixel 11 phones are, you need to know they’re not without their issues. For instance, some Pixel 11 users are currently reporting a “signal dropping” issue.

While some users are reporting random drops from 5G to LTE, others are complaining about weak reception and mobile data disconnects. After going through different reports, you discovered that these issues don’t affect every device. However, the few affected users are already asking for effective workarounds to address the issues.

Here’s what happened

When describing the issue, a Google Pixel 11 (Reliance Jio) user said:

“I am facing a frustrating network issue on my brand-new Pixel 11 immediately following a Google Play system update today, and I wanted to see if anyone else is experiencing this or if anyone has technical clarity on what actually happens under the hood. Before the update: I was getting a solid 3 bars of 5G consistently in my usual location. I went into my settings, saw a prompt for a Google Play system update, clicked it, and restarted the phone as requested.”

Immediately after the update, the Pixel 11 user said he experienced a drastic drop in signal. Instead of the stable (5G) 3 Bars, the signal dropped to a very weak 1-bar LTE connection. Some other users reported that their Pixel 11 Pro XL randomly drops mobile data or crashes on 5G.

How to fix the “Pixel 11 signal dropping” issue

Well, it’s hard to pinpoint the exact cause(s) of the Pixel 11 signal dropping issue. But if you currently experience this problem, below are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

1. Put your phone on Airplane mode

One quick fix that won’t disrupt your current settings involves turning on your device’s airplane mode. To do this, we recommend these steps:

  • Open your Settings app
  • Enable Airplane mode
  • Wait a few seconds and turn off airplane mode.

As long as the signal issue is temporary, these steps should help you reconnect quickly to nearby cellular towers.

2. Restart the Phone

Restarting your phone is another effective workaround you can try. Google recommends trying this workaround first before moving to advanced troubleshooting steps.

3. Check your SIM/eSIM & carrier settings

For cellular-related issues, we recommend navigating to Settings > Network & internet > SIMs. Here, check and confirm that the SIM is enabled and that you select the right carrier. Also, make sure that mobile data is on.

4. Turn off Adaptive Connectivity

This particular fix is a user-suggested workaround. According to some affected users, turning off the Adaptive Connectivity helped them to resolve the annoying “Pixel 11 signal dropping” issue.

To turn off Adaptive Connectivity, we recommend:

  • Locate Adaptive Connectivity under Settings. Settings > Network & Internet > Adaptive Connectivity.
  • Disable Adaptive Connectivity and your device will automatically switch to the mobile network. This option also helps to boost network connection for battery life.

5. Install the latest Pixel software update

First, you should know that Google Play System Update is different from the normal Pixel system update. While the former doesn’t always cause a data drop, one user noted that the update was the last thing he performed before experiencing the “Pixel 11 signal dropping” issue.

Well, even if that’s the case, installing the latest Pixel software update may be the solution to this issue. To do this, follow the steps below:

  • Start by checking for updates. Do this by navigating to Settings > System > Software Updates.
  • Next, install the available update and restart your device after completion.

6. Adjust roaming settings and data limits

Android network restrictions are another common issue that Pixel users mistake for a “signal dropping” issue. So, before you conclude that it’s a signal-related bug, make sure you check your data limits.

You can check the limits by navigating to Settings > Network & Internet > SIMs. Here, check and confirm that data roaming is enabled when traveling and that you’re still within your mobile data limit.

7. Reset mobile network settings

If after trying the aforementioned steps, the Pixel 11 signal dropping issue persists, we recommend resetting your mobile network.

To do this, we recommend navigating to Settings > System > Reset Options > Reset Mobile Network Settings. By resetting the mobile network, you’ll be able to refresh your carrier settings.

If after trying the aforementioned steps, nothing happens, we recommend reaching out to your carrier or Google. Contacting your carrier is important if the Pixel 11 signal dropping issue only affects your cellular service.

However, if the drop in signal happens almost every time, in multiple locations—consider contacting Google. This is especially true if you’re in an area with strong network coverage.
