That’s because racism is a variable that’s difficult to measure. As such, determining the most racist country can be a very difficult thing to do. All thanks to a recent compilation by the World Population Review, we now have a list of the top 10 most racist countries in the world in 2020. However, before going ahead and sharing the list with you, it’s worth noting that the ranking was compiled, based on a survey. According to the first question, people that participated in the surveys were asked if they would be comfortable being neighbors with people of a different race than theirs. Another question, apart from the nature of the skin color of their neighbors, is whether or not they’re a victim of racism or witnessed such an act in their country. That said, here’s the list of the top 10 most racist countries in the world.
Top 10 List Of Most Racist Countries In The World
1- India
According to the ranking, India sits on the top position on the top 10 list of most racist countries. And that’s based on the response to the questions above. Speaking of it, about 43.6% of all Indian participants mentioned that they won’t be comfortable having neighbors with different cultures and races than theirs. Furthermore, about 64.3% of the Indian participants said they’ve either been a victim of racism or witnessed such an act in the country.
2- Lebanon
Lebanon is a Western Asia country, which has citizens that share a similar ethnic background. The country sits on the second position on the top 10 list of most racist countries in the world. After the whole survey process, it was discovered that about 36.3% of the Lebanese participants don’t want neighbors outside their race. Furthermore, about 64.4% of them have also witnessed racist behavior in the country.
3- Bahrain
Next on the list of top 10 most racist countries is Bahrain. The country, which is a sovereign state in the Persian Gulf, is mostly dominated by Shia Muslims, which has about 70% of the Muslim population. Despite that, this group faces severe persecution in the country. According to the result from the survey, about 31.1% of the country’s participants don’t want people of other races as neighbors. Also, about 85.7% of them mentioned that they were once a victim of racism or have witnessed it before in the country.
4- Libya
Libya occupies the fourth position on the list of top 10 most racist countries in the world. And that’s majorly based on the results of the study mentioned earlier. Speaking of the outcome, about 39.7% of participants mentioned that they have witnessed the act in the country or even been a victim of it. Furthermore, about 54% of them are not also comfortable with having neighbors that have different races than theirs.
5- Egypt
Egypt is the fifth most racist country in the world, based on the survey. According to the results of the study, about 39.7 of the country’s participants mentioned that they have witnessed the act or fallen victim of racist behavior in the country.
6- Philippines
Based on the survey, about 30.6% of the participants from the Philippines mentioned that they are not comfortable with neighbors, who have different races than theirs. Furthermore, 49.1% of them also revealed that they have witnessed racists behavior in the country. With these results, the country occupies the sixth position on the list of top 10 most racist.
7- Kuwait
Kuwait, a Western Asian country, is the seventh on this list. The country occupies this position, based on the results from the aforementioned survey. Speaking of that, about 28.1% revealed they don’t want neighbors of another race. Furthermore, about 37.9% mentioned that they’ve witnessed racism in the country.
8- Palestine
Palestine is a Western Asian country, recognized by the United Nations, as the State of Palestine. The country currently occupies this position because of the result acquired from the survey. About 32% of the country’s participants said they witnessed racist behavior in the country. Also, about 44% of them said they don’t want neighbors of different races than theirs.
9- South Africa
Based on the survey, about 61.8% of South Africans who participated in it mentioned that they have witnessed racism in their country. As for the second result, 19.6% said they don’t want neighbors of different ethnic backgrounds. With that, the country is ninth on the list of top 10 most racist countries in the world.
10- South Korea
Last on the list of top 10 most racist countries in the world is South Korea. Like the rest of the countries on this list, that’s also based on the result of the survey carried out by different participants from 66 countries. Furthermore, about 36.5% of the country’s participants mentioned that they have witnessed racism in the country. As for the second part, 29.6% of the participants said they don’t want neighbors with different races.
