More Americans say recent reporting on UFOs has strengthened rather than weakened their belief in extraterrestrial life, with Gen Z and other younger adults showing the largest shift, according to a new national poll examining views on UFOs and aliens.
The online poll of 2,000 Americans, conducted by Talker Research from July 1 to July 6, found that 37% now believe in aliens more than before because of recent coverage of unidentified flying objects or UAPs. A majority, 54%, said the news had not changed their views, while 10% said it had made them less likely to believe.
Younger Americans show the biggest shift
Generational differences were pronounced. More than half of Gen Z respondents, 54%, credited recent coverage with increasing their belief. That figure fell to 45% among millennials, 36% among Gen X and 23% among baby boomers. Men were also more likely than women to say the news influenced them toward belief, at 43% compared with 33%.
The results, also reported by the New York Post, suggest that public interest is being shaped not only by news reports but also by popular culture. Fifty-four percent said alien-focused movies and television programs make Americans more likely to believe intelligent extraterrestrial life exists. Twenty-seven percent saw no connection, while 8% said such entertainment makes belief less likely.
Curiosity outweighs fear
Despite this growing openness, the prospect of definitive proof would not necessarily provoke panic. Asked how they would respond if intelligent alien life were confirmed, 38% said they would be curious, more than double the 17% who expected to feel afraid. Men were almost twice as likely as women to anticipate excitement, at 20% versus 11%.
Confidence in society’s ability to absorb such a revelation was lower. Only 45% said society is prepared for official confirmation, compared with 55% who said it is not. Meanwhile, 60% believe governments already possess more information about UFOs than they have publicly disclosed.
The findings do not establish whether increased coverage has changed long-term convictions, but they show how strongly the current media environment is resonating with younger audiences. For Gen Z in particular, UFOs appear to be moving from the edges of popular culture into a more credible part of the public conversation.
It takes a special sort of stupid to ignore the abundant proof of ET’s presence on and around our planet throughout the history of mankind and beyond. I can only deduce that those who deny the proof that is in their faces if only they would open their terrified eyes, are driven to denial by sheer fear of the unknown. Relax, cretins, if they wished to do us harm, we would know it by now – or simply not be here. They are here and always have been and they are vastly smarter than we are. Get over yourselves; God made all creatures, great and small – including those who visit us from elsewhere, however that is done.
