Chinese smartphone giant OnePlus has been beta testing the Android 11-based OxygenOS 11 for months. The beta testing on the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro began in mid-June. The company has started rolling out the stable version of OxygenOS 11 to OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro customers. The OxygenOS 11 update brings a bunch of new features along with stability improvements. There is a new UI design that automatically adapts to the time of the day, which you can choose from the Settings. If you enable it, Dark Mode will activate automatically at sunset. Other features include an Always-on Ambient Display and five new themes for Zen Mode.
OnePlus has also improved the Game Space feature. It now has Quick-Reply functions to reply to WhatsApp and Instagram messages.
The OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro customers have either received the update or will receive it in the next few days. You need to have at least 30% battery and 3GB of free storage before installing the update. Early OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro users who have updated to the stable version of OxygenOS 11 have reported several bugs and issues. OnePlus will likely fix them in a future update.

The OnePlus 8T, which is arriving on October 14th, will run OxygenOS 11 right out of the box. OnePlus said that other eligible devices such as the OnePlus 6, 6T, 7, 7 Pro, and 7T Pro will get OxygenOS 11 in the future. But the company didn’t provide a specific timeline. Some devices may not receive the update until early next year.
One device for which OnePlus hasn’t offered an OxygenOS 11 update timeline is the mid-range OnePlus Nord. The phone debuted only recently, so users were expecting it to be among the first to receive the new OS. According to a moderator in the OnePlus community forum, the OnePlus Nord could get the OxygenOS 11 update towards the end of this year or in early 2021.
