Google has officially unveiled the Pixel 5 flagship smartphone at its virtual Launch Night In event. The Pixel 5 debuted alongside the relatively affordable Pixel 4A 5G. Google has started taking pre-orders for new phones, and sales will start on October 29 in the US and a few other countries. It has been priced at $699. The Pixel 5 will be competing with the flagship smartphones from Apple, Samsung, OnePlus, and other vendors. The Pixel 5 sports a 6-inch Full HD+ OLED display with 2,340 x 1,080 pixels resolution and 432ppi of pixel density. It runs a mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chipset with 5G capabilities. The Pixel 5 comes with 90Hz refresh rate and an IP68 rating for water resistance. It runs the latest Android 11 software, which brings tons of new features including a new Hold For Me calling feature. It offers 128GB of internal storage and 8GB RAM.

The iPhone 11 gets a 6.1-inch LCD display with 1,792 x 828 pixels resolution and 326ppi of pixel density. It runs Apple’s latest iOS 14 software and a custom A13 Bionic chipset. The iPhone 11 packs 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB of internal storage. Just like Pixel 5, it has an IP68 rating for water resistance.

The OnePlus 8 and Galaxy S20 both were launched with Android 10, but will receive the Android 11 update. But the OnePlus 8 runs OxygenOS and the Galaxy S20 runs OneUI skin on top of Android.

The OnePlus 8 sports a 6.55-inch Fluid AMOLED display with full HD+ resolution of 1,080 x 2,400 pixels. It offers 90Hz refresh rate and 402ppi of pixel density. The OnePlus device runs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 chipset with 5G support. It offers 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 128GB of base storage.

The Galaxy S20 has an impressive 6.2-inch Quad HD+ AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and 563ppi of pixel density. It has a resolution of 1,440 x 3,200 pixels. Under the hood, it runs Samsung’s Exynos 990 chipset with 8GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It also supports external storage of up to 1TB via a microSD card slot.

Battery capacity

The Google Pixel 5 sports a 4,000mAh battery with fast charging and reverse wireless charging support. It’s good enough to last a full day of normal usage. Samsung’s Galaxy S20 also gets a 4,000mAh battery with fast charging and wireless charging support. Apple never reveals the battery capacity of iPhones. The OnePlus 8 packs a 4,300mAh battery with fast charging capabilities.

In terms of camera, the Google Pixel 5 sports a dual-camera setup on the back. It consists of a 12.2MP standard lens and a 16MP wide-angle lens. For selfies, it has a front-facing 8MP punch-hole camera. Google uses AI algorithms to enhance the photography experience.

The iPhone 11 also has a dual-camera setup consisting of a 12MP wide-angle lens and a 12MP ultra-wide angle lens. It also has a 12MP lens for selfies.

The OnePlus 8 and Galaxy S20 both sport a triple camera setup on the back. The OnePlus 8 gets a 48MP wide-angle lens, a 16MP ultra-wide angle lens with 116-degree field of view, and a 2MP macro lens. It has a 16MP front camera for selfies.

The Galaxy S20’s triple camera setup includes a 12MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide angel lens, and a 64MP telephoto lens. There is a 10MP front camera for selfies.
